Wednesday Randoms

I wrote the sweetest 1,000 words scene today. Super innocent and adorable, although I’m not sure it will actually make it in the final draft. It all depends on how well it fits once I’ve written up to it and past it. That Keane song “Spiralling” and this picture of Aly Michalka (Teagan in my eyes) inspired it and while I think it really highlights the development of the friendship between Bryce, Brynn, and Teagan (which is important primarily for Teagan) I’m not sure how important as a whole it actually is to the story. It’s really cute though. Maybe it will be a bonus scene to share one day if it doesn’t make the cut.

I also wrote a little over 2,000 words yesterday for a scene I was mulling over last week, but thinking about it now I know there definitely needs to be some changes. Like Teagan has a dog and he’s with her in the scene, but I failed to mention this and that’s a huge error on my part because any dog fans would immediately catch the mistake. No biggy though, I wasn’t finished with it anyway so I can make the minor adjustments and wrap it up hopefully in the next few days.

I’ve been writing a couple of chapters at the same time because rather than let one stump me for long I just sit it aside and move on. Now it’s got me straddling three at the same time though which kind of sucks. I am really close to completing one of them though after what I wrote this past weekend. I also finished making all of my redline edits (on the actual word documents) so those chapters are good to go. I will not look at them again until I read the entire thing through.

Outside of writing, some of my new books came today, but somehow not in the right order so I have to wait before I continue with the next book in the Dark-Hunter series. But I can start reading my Dark-Hunter Manga today (which is backwards BTW – I did not expect that!)

Also, I have a small update on the Mayo Thief (for those who were entertained by his antics). He bought a new bottle. A large one too and didn’t even mark it as just his. I’d say our little prank taught him a lesson, even if we didn’t get to enjoy the fire we were expecting out of him.

And lastly, I’m going to be starting a “Post your Bookcase” chain style thing probably on the first of September. I was waiting for Heather (edgyauthor) to get home so she could participate too and even though she’s finally back, I’d like to give her time to *clean her room, like she stated in her last post* and settle in. I’d also like the rest of my books to arrive so my shelf is looking full 😉 Be ready to post yours too friends. I want to lavish in all the books you have and I want. I know I only enable my book wanting/buying habit further, but oh well.

14 Things on a Friday

(Because there were more than 5, which is usually the trend)*

1. I’ve read 2 Sherrilyn Kenyon books in 3 days time this week. The second one I literally couldn’t put down until it was finished. It’s official – I LOVE her and MUST own all of her books ASAP.

2. I got my hair cut and colored today, but am not exactly impressed with it. I am happy it was finally done because it hasn’t been since March, but I requested blonde and chocolate chunks and what I got was just a lot of blonde. Ugh.

3. I’m stuck on “Ashes Divide” again, listening to their album on repeat non-stop (instead of “Local Natives”).

4. Because I love to musically corrupt you, this particular “Ashes Divide” song has been played more times than I can count this week (because it’s inspiring my writing of course!)

5. For the first time in a year my nails aren’t painted black. I figured it was time to finally let them breathe, naked.

6. I can’t fight the urge to buy September’s books now (partly because I want more Sherrilyn and there’s 2 in my shopping cart (even though I already read one of them)), and so I am ordering them now and hoping my *need* will be satisfied until October when Beautiful Darkness comes out and I’ll likely be buying more Dark-Hunter books.

7. What books am I buying? “The Mortal Instruments Series” by Cassandra Clare, “Night Pleasures” (Dark-Hunter Book 2) & “Night Embrace” (Dark-Hunter Book 3) by Sherrilyn Kenyon, and “The Replacement” by Brenna Yovanoff

8. My books for August (minus “Infernal Devices” because it doesn’t come out until the 31st) arrived this week (duh, because I’ve already read one). Regardless, they are beautiful and just make me want to post pictures of my glorious new bookcase even more. (But I’ll wait…)

9. An amazing addition to my book presented itself to me this week finally and I’ve jotted down the necessary things to remember to complete it. I also finished redlining the 40,000+ words I have complete. Is it terrible if I think after a read through that my book rocks? I thought the first draft was pretty good, but I definitely didn’t feel the way I did after reading it through this time as I did the first time. It’s MUCH better.

10. As much as I’d like to avoid it I’ve been searching for a new ride. So far my choice options are another Ford Escape (because I love my current one) and a Jeep Liberty. Neither of these will be brand new as I can not afford the car payments on a completely new vehicle, but they will still be new to me.

11. I sold a bunch of gold this week (because I only wear silver and it took a long time for people to realize this I guess) and I made 650.00!!! Awesome, right?

12. I still haven’t heard anything back about my CAT scan which bothers me. I will be calling the doctors first thing tomorrow.

13. I really want a new tattoo. My current one is ugly and unseen and I’ve always wanted more. For some reason more than usual lately. It won’t happen, I know, but it still doesn’t stop me from wanting it.

14. Mayo Thief Update: I heard him in the kitchen just before lunch preparing his tuna and waited until he left to see if the bottle was gone. The bottle was still in the fridge (because of course he couldn’t throw it away?), but that bitch was empty. I waited for the wrath, or some sort of explosion. I wanted it in truth. But nothing. He simply threw out his sandwich several minutes later and left the building returning with a burger and fries. I wonder if he just thinks it went bad or if he realized it had been tampered with, but knew he had no leg to stand on when it came to complaining about it. I have to admit I was disappointed. I’m not typically a vengeful sort of person, but a better reaction out of him would have pleased me more with this prank.

Happy Friday everyone, Enjoy your weekend 😉

Peace – Sarah

*They weren’t all very important, but the next “F” number was 14 so that’s what you got

I was at work when I started writing this, really really bored. I was in one of those don’t-feel-like-working kind of moods today. Mainly because some of the people I work with do nothing in comparison to me, come and go as they please and still get paid for a full 8 hour day without anyone reprimanding them for their absence. Oh and did I mention make at least 20,000 more a year than me? F’ing Ridiculous!

On a positive note it’s raining outside and for the first time this summer not obscenely hot. In fact, there was such a chill to the air this morning I could have actually worn a light jacket. All of this is just making me want to take a nap though. And making me wish fall was here even more than I already do.

Bryce, Brynn, & Teagan have been having a conversation in my head all day, a conversation I’ve been waiting for them to have and am excited that it’s finally happening. And paper sits in front of me waiting to be scribbled on, but of course I can’t transfer their conversation to it. This dialogue crap is really getting on my nerves. To the point where I kind of want to scream about although I know that helps nothing. I keep trying to tell myself, “At least they haven’t left you completely.” But then this evil meany in my mind laughs and says, “But what good is their presence, if your hands don’t know what to do when they’re around.” ::SHUT UP!::

Alright, moving on because I don’t need to add pissed off to my colorful array of moods today.

I’ve been reading Sherrilyn Kenyon’s “Night Pleasures” this week since it’s been a while since I picked up a book and obviously avoiding them right now for the sake of my own novel is pointless. I really loved “Infinity: The Chronicles of Nick” when I read it earlier this year and so I decided to check out the Dark-Hunter series it’s tied to. So far I love it, however it is the first ‘adult’ fiction novel I’ve read and I have to admit the first sex scene I came across seriously made my mouth fall open. That conservative nature in me was like, WTF they can put that in books? Aside from that, the story is fantastic and I love the way Sherrilyn writes. The Dark-Hunters are vampires who protect humans, which by the way, she gives a whole different twist too that involves Greek Gods which I find highly entertaining and the story takes place in New Orleans which for some reason I’ve found myself attracted to in several stories now. (Odd, considering I’ve never even been to New Orleans.) I also really love that the characters I’m reading about now were also in “Infinity” just at a different time period. I rented this book from the library and the cover says “The First Dark-Hunter Novel” but apparently it lies. The first book is actually “Fantasy Lover” so it’s on its way from Amazon as we speak because now I must read them all.

Ok, I’m boring myself further now.

Peace – Sarah

P.S. Mayo Thief actually went out to lunch today. Hopefully tomorrow a lesson will be learned.
