So I finally finished reading “The Overton Window” by Glenn Beck and I must say it was amazing! It will blow your mind how true of a picture it paints of our current society and while it keeps you on the edge of your seat, it also claws at your heart making it seem all the more real. This book is, of course, a work of fiction, but many of the situations we face today like our still failing economy, the bailouts and take-overs of big business’, and the level of power held by the ever growing government all play parts in this book. Parts that lead to an America I hope to never be around to see.

The Overton Window is an actual concept developed by Joseph Overton. It works by changing the way you view once thought radical ideas by introducing even more radical ideas to force you into acceptance. Anyone would be lying to themselves if they didn’t believe this concept was being used on us everyday from anything to the stuff allowed in TV and movies now to politics. Our acceptability of radical ideals has changed so much since even I was a kid it’s unbelievable. And those in power can use this tool to also manipulate us into believing we need to be reliant on them and no longer run as a free country (as is their goal in this book).

You don’t need to be politically driven to enjoy this book, but I think it will wake you up a bit to the reality we live in. A lot of people would rather ignore what’s going on behind closed doors, pretend it’s not happening until it’s actually their problem. But once it’s become their problem it will be too late to do anything to stop it.

Don’t be ignorant to the truth, educate yourself. And if nothing else, read something like “The Overton Window” so that you’re at least *thinking* about the possibilities of our future as a free nation. It can only remain free if we care enough to not let the “window” slide out of control.

Peace – Sarah
