TV Junkie

I've watched a lot of TV lately.

I don't typically watch all that much TV honestly. I mean, I have a few shows I like, but typically I DVR them and watch them on the weekend. But with a lot of my "regular" shows ending or pausing for winter break recently, I found myself missing TV.

Showtime recently offered a free preview period and I decided to fill my TV void by finally catching up on shows I was seasons behind in (because I do not have Showtime), like Shameless and Californication in marathon style. Both shows, I continued to think couldn't possibly keep entertaining me, but Shameless especially has become such a favorite show it's invaded my dreams.

With all of my Showtime shows caught up on now and the free preview period over, I've decided to finally catch up on Breaking Bad too. Strangely enough, it's another show that I keep thinking can't possibly entertain me enough to keep watching and yet it does. I love when TV proves me wrong.

The Walking Dead comes back on soon, something like 24 days. I can't wait.

Also, in addition to these "big" shows, I've become completely addicted to Property Brothers. It used to just be a thing I'd watch if I just happened to leave HGTV on, but now it's in my DVR cue too.

When did I become such a TV junkie? At least it's not cutting into my productivity at the moment. What are all of you watching?

In my Mailbox: Books!

I’m not expecting anymore pre-orders this month, nor am I allowed to order anything outside of these books anyway so I might as well post this now. Today, in my mailbox was:

  • Down a Dark Hall by Lois Duncan
  • The Dead & The Gone (Last Survivors, Book 2) by Susan Beth Pfeffer
  • Rapture (Fallen, Book 4) by Lauren Kate
  • The Walking Dead, Book 3 by Robert Kirkman

Rapture was a pre-order, that in all honesty, I’m not that pumped for. I still haven’t even finished the very short Fallen in Love (Book 3.5) because it totally fails to hold my attention. I’m sure I’ll read it one day, but right now, it’s not a priority. After finishing the last Walking Dead book and the first Last Survivorsbook recently though, I couldn’t resist getting these continuations. But the one I’m the most excited about reading first, honestly, is Down a Dark Hall. It’s one of the very few books I remember reading as a kid (I didn’t read a lot growing up) and it had scared the crap out of me back then. I can’t wait to see what I think about it as an adult.

I have no idea where I’ll store these books, or the 8 other pre-orders still coming this year for that matter. I have well over 200 books now. I am in desperate need of a larger and/or additional bookshelf.

I almost forgot, I also go this last week. It's research for Summer Novel. 😉

What books are all of you reading or buying these days?

In which I bore you with my TV preferences :)

Recently we upgraded our TV service to include DVR (the ability to record/store shows you'll miss otherwise). I always thought this seemed like an unnecessary expense, but since it was on sale and actually cheaper than the existing service we had I decided to give it a shot. I have been overly pleased with this decision as it grows more and more difficult for me to stay up as late as my favorite TV shows come on during the work-week. Now with DVR we can have mini-marathon's on the weekends to catch up. Last night was one of those marathon nights and good Lord it was filled with awesome.

First: Sons of Anarchy

Opie, my heart has ached for you since Season 1 and Season 4 has only proved to be even tougher for you. This week you got yours and I cheered for you like you can't believe! Opie is the man!

Second: The Walking Dead

Rick, you're my favorite. You'll always be my favorite. You have that wholesome good-guy charm, you're brave, you're selfless, and you're also easy on the eyes. With all that being said, half the people you bust your ass to protect – to love, don't deserve you and that includes Lori and Shane. Just saying…

Third: American Horror Story

Constance, you are the root of all evil and I love you. I love your crazy ass creepy son, Tate, too. Twisted runs deep in your blood, doesn't it? *This show has turned out so much better than I expected when I started watching it, though I'm not all that confident that it will stick around for long. Hopefully they will at least give it a proper closing.

Thank you, DVR, for allowing me to enjoy TV and still hit the sheets by my bed time. 🙂

**Now if only I could afford Showtime and HBO so I could catch up on Dexter and True Blood, too….

Peace – Sarah
